Beware of these numbers that write to you! Police important notice for citizens
The police have informed citizens to be careful of the numbers they can write to in their social networks, as a new fraud scheme to steal social network accounts has been discovered.
According to the police, messages disguised as those of the company Meta Platforms have been found, to phone numbers, for the confirmation of data on the Facebook social network.
These messages claim to verify Facebook accounts or else the account will be closed.
"The Sector for the Investigation of Cybercrimes in DVP Tirana during the continuous monitoring of open sources of information and virtual platforms, in order to highlight illegal activities mainly in the field of cybercrimes, has found disguised messages such as those of the Meta Platforms company, to phone numbers, to confirm data on the Facebook social network, related to the Facebook Ads service, (but not only).
These messages claim to verify Facebook accounts or else the account will be closed.
Fraudulent messages are aimed at directing account holders towards fraudulent links with the aim of taking possession of the accounts of defrauded persons, in an unfair manner.
The Sector for the Investigation of Cybercrimes in DVP Tirana calls on you, if you are or suspect that you may be affected by the sending of these messages, to come to our offices, and advises you not to take any action against these messages, which may to come from mostly foreign numbers," the police announced.
