Veliaj: Tirana's public swimming pools have transformed like day and night! Primary, hygiene and life safety

Located in the heart of Tirana, Aquadrome swimming pools are the most economical option for all citizens of the capital, who do not have the opportunity to enjoy the coast in these hot summer days.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, during an inspection, stated that the swimming pool complex has transformed like day and night, since it was taken over by the municipality, after 20 years under the management of a private entity.
"I am really enthusiastic that, after 20 years when Tirana's swimming pools were left in oblivion by bad private management, the return to the hands of the Municipality has transformed the situation from night to day. It was really a big wasteland and a big pit of trash and garbage, so that you would be ashamed to identify with this environment, where in fact most of us spent our childhood, learned to swim and had those memories of the first years of life . Finally, for children and young people, that nostalgia is returning today, but with a quality of these years, not of the 90s", said Veliaj.
He added that the cleanliness of the water and safety are primary, for this pool to remain open. "Cleanliness is primary, so even the modest payment given for swimming pools goes to hygiene, chlorination, disinfection and keeping the premises clean. I want to guarantee all citizens that, not only hygiene and cleanliness are primary, but also the safety of life", said Veliaj.
While appealing to citizens to frequent public swimming pools, Veliaj brought the Aquadrome as an example that public management is sometimes better than private.
"I'm glad that, even for children under 4 years old, we have it for free, and we have really built a family environment, a green, clean environment. Swimming pools are probably the most economical, cleanest option and the guarantee of the Municipality, where quality family time can be spent. The invitation to all citizens is: Let's come to the public swimming pools! Public pools are one way we show that public management is sometimes even better than private. On the other hand, it is the ideal place to organize summer camps, organized groups, family reunions, reunions of friends", further stated the mayor of Tirana.
Depending on the weather conditions, Mayor Veliaj said that the public swimming pools will continue to remain open until the end of October.
