"Even this December, I would like to invite you, as we turn on these lights of trees and magical decorations in Tirana, so that everyone can turn on a little light in their heart, to become a little better, a little more solidary, to take care for someone who has a need that we can fill. I would like all of us, behind these lights, to turn on the light of our hearts and our minds to make Tirana truly a model city", he said.

"Today Tirana has 1 million citizens and almost every month from 1 million tourists, while this was not the case years ago, Tirana was not on the map at all. This means that when we Albanians work together, when we help each other, when we encourage each other, when we say to each other well done, move forward, continue the work, each one of us contributes to Tirana being all better, to be cleaner, more enlightened, more orderly, more solidary. Two years ago, Tirana was the European Capital of Youth, while one year ago it was the European Capital of Sport, this year Tirana was the queen of all Balkan cities, we all achieved it with hard work. Meanwhile, next year Tirana will be the Mediterranean Capital of Culture. It means that every year Tirana has had an international title with which I am proud to be your servant and I am proud and grateful for each of you who are model citizens", stated Veliaj.
