Egyptian Culture Week, Veliaj hosts Minister Elkilany: Time to reconnect

The week of Egyptian Culture has started in Tirana, a week full of activities, which opens tonight with the gala concert of the Cairo Opera Orchestra and the National Theater of Opera and Ballet with the participation of the well-known Egyptian soprano Amira Selim.

For this purpose, the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Nevien Elkilany, is also in Tirana, who was received by the mayor Erion Veliaj. At the end of the meeting, Veliaj underlined the fact that the relations between our two countries are entering a new chapter, which are strengthened even more with joint cultural activities.

"It is a great pleasure that you are in Tirana! We grew up with stories from Egypt and how our national movement, our independence movement, our renaissance, had a diaspora base in Cairo, in Alexandria. We have an attraction to the extraordinary culture of Egypt, but also to the fact that part of our history is connected to your country. It is an extraordinary pleasure that after the visit of Prime Minister Rama, the meeting with President El-Sisi in Egypt, you are the first official to come here and thus mark a new beginning of our relations," said Veliaj.

The Mayor underlined that the Opera Orchestra's concert this evening and the folklore concert in Skënderbej Square on Sunday evening are just the two peaks of a week filled with Egyptian art and culture in Tirana.
