The photo of the German chancellors, whose photos we all know, disappears
Photographer Konrad R. Müller has passed away. Maybe his name doesn't mean anything because in fact his work is more famous than his name. He shot those photos of the German chancellors, in black and white.
In a photo album and touching status, Olaf Scholz remembers it like this:
"A year ago, in November 2022, I met Konrad R. Müller at the Federal Chancellery.
As always, he had his analog camera with him. He photographed me, as did all previous German chancellors.
With his work, Müller captured the faces and thus the history of our democracy. There was no background, nothing to distract - just one person in front and one behind the camera.
Konrad R. Müller became known as the "Photographer of Chancellors", but his work was much bigger than that. Whether politicians, artists or actors were in front of his camera: the style of his black and white photos was unique.
Konrad R. Müller died this weekend in his hometown of Königsinter. His work through photographs will keep his memory immortal," he writes.
