Serbia against the negotiations for the Franco-German plan

Serbia continues to deny discussions on the final deal, which was said to have been agreed at the last meeting in Brussels, when agreement was reached on license plates. Even the president of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, has ironized the statement of the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, that he will not go to Brussels just for license plates, but for a final agreement with mutual recognition.

A day after Kurti said that at the next meeting in Brussels they will discuss the final agreement, Vucic said: "He said that for him the issue of status has ended. For me too, the status issue has long been over, in accordance with the UN Charter and UN Resolution 1244. Have a good time in Brussels", said Vucic from Norway.

Although it has not been published yet, Vučič has called the Franco-German proposal unacceptable as it requires commitments from the parties for mutual respect of territorial integrity.

Even the director of the so-called office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, said that in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, there is no deadline for reaching a final agreement. According to him, the only deadline is for the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.

Prime Minister Kurti, a day earlier, declared for the German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" that he is going to Brussels to negotiate the final agreement, which according to him, should be reached by the spring of 2023.

Reaching an agreement between the two countries continues to be considered an urgent issue by one of the plan's proponents, Germany. The president of this country, Frank Walter Steinmeier from Skopje, called today for discussions to take place about the proposed plan.

The US request that the decision on the fines be postponed for 48 hours, led the parties after marathon discussions to reach an agreement. Kosovo pledged not to impose penalties, and Serbia to no longer produce illegal license plates.

Meanwhile, the third issue, according to the chief negotiators, was the agreement to start discussions about the final agreement. The warning of the US ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, about security in the north of Kosovo, was the reason why the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that a compromise was made regarding the illegal license plates.
