Bali issues the nomadic digital visa that allows you to stay for 5 years
Indonesia is hoping to attract more foreign workers to the country with a new nomadic digital visa.
The proposed visa aims to stimulate digital nomads to work from destinations known as Bali Island.
What is known about Indonesia's new nomadic digital visa?
The planned nomadic digital visa will be valid for five years. It will allow remote workers to live in the country tax-free, as long as their income comes from businesses based outside Indonesia.
The special permit was created to be a simple solution for foreigners wanting to work in the Asian country.
The five-year visa will become the longest nomadic digital visa compared to other countries.
Still, instructions on when and how to apply for a visa have not been announced.
Current visa for remote workers in Bali
Bali is already a favorite destination for remote workers with its warm climate and low cost of living. But current visa rules do not facilitate long-term stays.
At the moment, digital nomads can apply for a temporary visa to work from Indonesia. Options include Arrival Visa (VoA), which is valid for 30 days, tourist visa, which can be renewed for a total of 60 days, or a business visa that can be extended up to 180 days.
Visitors who stay longer become residents and pay taxes.
