Europeans will pay to enter the UK in 2025

European citizens traveling to the UK without a visa will soon have to pay a £10 fee to enter the island.

The new rule takes effect next year. Initially, the electronic travel authorization was applicable only to citizens of Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, but from spring 2025 it will be extended to a number of other countries, including those of the European Union. In November, the payment of the fee also comes into effect for travelers from the United States of America.

Fees must be paid by any person entering the UK without a visa, excluding infants and children. The fee must also be paid by those who entered the country with a work or study visa.

Only citizens of the Republic of Ireland are exempt from paying the fee.

A similar fee, for travelers without visas, will be applied by the European Union from next year, which will cost 7 euros.

While the United States of America has started implementing this system since 2009, where travelers without visas pay a fee of 21 dollars, which is valid for 2 years.
