France will ban smoking on beaches and other public places such as parks and forests as part of a national anti-smoking plan put forward by the Health Ministry
"Beaches, parks, schools, in a large number of countries an experiment of a similar kind has begun and now we are moving towards the adoption of a general rule to show our determination," Health Minister Aurelien Rousseau told BFM television. .
Rousseau said that tobacco products cause 75,000 deaths a year, stating that the government will introduce legislation early next year to increase the number of public places where smoking will not be allowed.
