Uranus' moons may have life! Why scientists changed their minds

The planet Uranus and its five largest moons may not be the dead, sterile worlds scientists have long thought. Instead, they may have oceans, and the moons may even be capable of supporting life, scientists say.

Much of what we know about them was gleaned from NASA's Voyager 2 probe, which visited the planet almost 40 years ago. But a new analysis by British scientists shows that Voyager's visit coincided with a powerful solar storm, leading to a misunderstanding of what the Uranus system is really like.

Dr. Affelia Wibisono from the Institute for Advanced Study in Dublin, who is not part of the research team, described the result as "very exciting".
