Hong Kong is giving away 500,000 free flight tickets starting in March

Hong Kong is hoping to bounce back from the massive impact the pandemic had on its tourism industry. And part of the city's plan includes giving away 500,000 airline tickets worth more than 250 million euros.
Hong Kong welcomed 56 million visitors in 2019 – more than seven times its population – before the start of the pandemic. But its strict COVID restrictions have kept visitors away for the past three years, decimating its tourism sector and economy.
How will the free ticket scheme work in Hong Kong?
The gifts will begin to be distributed on March 1 and will last for about six months.
The free tickets will be distributed by Hong Kong-based airlines Cathay Pacific, HK Express and Hong Kong Airlines, according to Fred Lam Tin-fuk, chief executive of Hong Kong Airport.
