The United States shot down the Chinese balloon that had been hovering over the territory for several days sent by China. According to the US, the balloon was spying.
After the crash, China has protested, declaring that it "reserves the right to use the necessary means to deal with similar situations".
"The US used force to attack our civilian drone, which is a clear overreaction. We express solemn protest against this move by the US side," Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Tan Kefei said in a statement on Sunday afternoon.
