Capri's beaches are non-smoking areas.
In the order signed by the mayor
Paolo Falco, the smoking ban has come into effect for all beaches. The provision also emphasizes the prohibition of throwing away packages, bags or cigarette ends in the entire territory of the municipality.
The purpose of the order is to: protect the environment, life and public health.
There will be fines for anyone who breaks the new rule
Smokers will be able to smoke on the beach "only in specially designated areas". Only in dedicated parts of the beach and without causing disturbance to other beachgoers. The mayor reminds all those who did not like the new rule, that the law gives them the right. It authorizes him to issue orders in case of health emergencies.
He points out that smoking is one of the leading causes of death and disability.
