Germany is expected to approve this week the personal use of cannabis, which will come into effect on April 1.
The law, to be voted on by the lower house no later than Friday, would allow adults to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis, grow up to three plants for private consumption and cultivate the drug as part of non-profit clubs of cannabis with a limit of 500 members.
The goal is to curb the black market and fight drug-related crime. This is the first step towards a wider legalization of marijuana in Europe's largest economy.
