Central and Eastern European countries are being hit by the worst floods in almost 30 years. Emergency services are grappling with torrential rains that have swollen rivers and damaged thousands of homes.

At least 4 people in eastern Romania have been found dead and hundreds of people are trapped in flooded areas.

Meanwhile, one person has died of drowning in Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed on Sunday, while dozens of people were evacuated on Saturday from two villages near the town of Nysa, in the Nysa river basin, after forecasters warned of unprecedented rainfall and water levels in some rivers in the area increased significantly.

In the Czech Republic, flooding has led to the evacuation of 51,000 families in northern areas of the country hit by power cuts.

In the Czech Republic, a dam burst on Saturday in the South Bohemia region of the country. Environment Minister Petr Hladik asked those in the worst-hit areas to prepare to leave their homes.
