Korean writer Han Kang wins the Nobel Prize in Literature

The Nobel Prize in literature was awarded Thursday to South Korean author Han Kang for her "intensely poetic prose that confronts historical trauma and exposes the fragility of human life."
Kang, 53, won the Booker International Prize in 2016 for "The Vegetarian," a disturbing novel in which a woman's decision not to eat meat has devastating consequences.
Since 1901 until today, 116 prizes have been awarded in literature, 17 of them to women.
The youngest Laureate in Literature is the 41-year-old Rudyard Kipling in 1907.
While the oldest laureate in age is 87-year-old Doris Lessing in 2007.
