Boris Johnson's government is shocked! Two important ministers resign
Two top UK ministers resigned within minutes of each other on Tuesday evening, in a major blow to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Sajid Javid, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, resigned, saying he had lost confidence in Johnson.
Then just minutes later, Rishi Sunak, the chancellor of the exchequer - or finance minister - also resigned.
Johnson has moved quickly to replace Javid with Downing Street Chief of Staff Steve Barclay, while Education Minister Nadhim Zahaëi will replace Sunak, the Prime Minister's Office confirmed on Tuesday night.
He has also sent letters to two former ministers, telling you they will miss him dearly.
The resignations of other Conservative party officials followed two high-profile ones. Party vice-president Bim Afolami resigned during a television interview, while Conservative MP Andre Murrison resigned as Johnson's trade envoy. Several parliamentary aides have also resigned.
