German President Frank Walter Steinmeier official visit to Tirana tomorrow
Shortly before the EU-Western Balkans Summit that takes place for the first time in our country, the official Tirana will be visited tomorrow by Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier.
The German Embassy in Tirana has disclosed the agenda of the two-day visit, the first of a German president to Albania:
"This is the first time in 27 years that a German president visits the Republic of Albania. Federal President Steinmeier had the opportunity to get to know Tirana and hold talks in his previous position as Foreign Minister. The travel program includes talks with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama, as well as a speech in the Assembly. Also, a meeting with students from Albania and other countries of the Western Balkans, a discussion on dealing with the communist past and a visit to a German company, where light will be shed on the economic potential and opportunities here in Albania, is planned. The Federal President is happy that he will be able to get to know Albanian history and culture during a visit to Berat, thus creating an impression on German-Albanian cooperation for development".
Frank Walter Steinmeier started a trip to North Macedonia yesterday, where part of the agenda were meetings with President Pendarovski and Prime Minister Kovacevski, as well as a speech before the Parliament.
Steinmeier's visit, according to the German president's official website, focuses on the situation in the region, the impact of the war in Ukraine and Germany's continued support for the country's EU membership prospects.
