The session for voting on the amendments to the Electoral Code is postponed,

The Plenary Session scheduled for October 1, where the amendments to the Electoral Code would be voted on, has been postponed.

The Albanian Parliament announces that the session will be held on October 5, at 10:00 in order to leave enough time for parliamentary groups to dialogue on changes to the Electoral Code, as well as the committee responsible for Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Rights. Human for their consideration.

Two days ago, the opposition submitted a draft demanding the opening of the lists 100% and not touching the coalitions, while in the draft of the Socialist Party, it is foreseen to open the lists 100% but the formula is preferential, where the candidates are ranked in numerical order. This order changes if the candidate has received a number of preferential votes greater than the party average, which results from dividing the number of votes received by the political entity with the number of seats won by the entity.

The parliamentary opposition has another draft, proposing a formula that allows the party leader to close the lists up to 1/3, but may also make concessions.

Ambassadors Luigi Soreca and Juri Kim also reacted to the changes in the Electoral Code, calling for the implementation of the June 5 agreement to be discussed in the Political Council, in the presence of the opposition, and then to be voted in parliament.

Meanwhile, it is expected that on October 5 there will be a draft agreed on the changes in the Electoral Code.
