Cher stopped eating cheese in 1991: It's one of the worst things for the body
When Cher spoke to People 32 years ago, she said that access to junk food while filming made it very difficult for her to make healthy food choices.
This inspired him to seek advice from a sports nutritionist named Robert Haas. Haas helped Cher create a wellness plan that would help her stay in shape and become healthier.
Cher's dietary choices in 1991 included:
Removing cheese from her diet: “I try to avoid foods with a high fat content. Dairy products are not good for us. I think cheese is one of the worst things for the body. It doesn't digest well and most cheeses are very high in fat and cholesterol."
Drinking less milk: "I weaned myself from regular milk to skim milk," she noted during her interview.
Healthier food choices: Cher chose brown rice instead of white rice. She also started consuming fruits like bananas, papayas and nectarines. Her meals often included vegetables, pasta and legumes such as lentils and beans.
"The most important thing is to give yourself a fighting chance," Cher said during the interview. "I don't take drugs. I never drink coffee and I almost never drink alcohol or eat red meat, so I'm way ahead of the game.”
