IPH study: Out of 1500 people who passed Covid, half of them created antibodies

The first study that sheds light on the course of Covid-19 infection, according to age groups, diseases and the development of immunity in Albania, has been published by the Doctor's Order.

The study, authored by several experts at the Institute of Public Health, shows that out of 1,500 people tested positive, 54% developed IGG antibodies between the 14th and 21st day after infection. But international data show that the creation of antibodies begins even later.

The data of epidemiologists show that the immune response, for both IGM and IGG, is variable in different population groups, but also by different health conditions of the subjects in the study.
From the follow-up of the clinical course and laboratory results of 25 patients from the first day that were positive to the 35th day (maximum time of negativity), in most individuals presenting with symptomatic Covid-19 infection, viral RNA reached its maximum within a week.

Positivity, in most cases in the study, has started to decline from the third week until its negativity in the fourth week, for about 85% of cases in the study, until the fifth week for 10-12% of cases, or the end of the sixth week for about 3-5% of cases in the study, until then it becomes completely invisible.

From all age groups in the study, it is found that the most infected were:

- In the first place is the age group 25-35 years (20.03%), the age group of young people, who are careless and negligent in the implementation of anti-Covid measures and meanwhile becomes a source of transmission of infection to other age groups. Of these, the most infected are women (60.37%) compared to men (39.62%).

- In second place is the age group over 65 years (18.97%), of which men (52.25%) and women (46.74%).

- In third place, the age group 55-64 years (17.7%), of which women (56.25%) and men (43.75%).
The ratio of total confirmed positive cases is higher for women (56%) than for men (44%). Pediatric and school age groups account for 0.05 to 1.13% of positive confirmations.
