Dua, the Albanian we all love just set another record

The world-famous Albanian singer Dua Lipa has set a new record, among the many successes of this year. She has been chosen as one of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2024 by TIME magazine.

The list has been compiled every year since 1999 and this year Dua is the first to open the ranking.

Dua Lipa was born in London in 1995 to Kosovo Albanian parents, Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa, who fled Prishtina as refugees in the early 90s. When Lipa was 11, her family moved back to Kosovo - a few years later, Lipa convinced her parents to let her return to London to pursue a career in music.

While attending theater school as a teenager, Lipa began uploading music to YouTube and SoundCloud, and signed with a modeling agency. In 2013, Lipa landed her first job for an X Factor TV commercial - which led to a deal with TaP Music, and later, a record deal with Warner Bros.
