Colombian pop star Shakira has reached a deal with Spanish prosecutors to settle her €14.5m tax evasion case.

For several years now, there have been rumors that Shakira is in trouble for not declaring her income and not paying her taxes correctly.

If found guilty, Shakira would risk 8 years in prison and a fine of 23.8 million euros.

The singer herself did not accept the charges or the prosecution's proposals to make a deal and avoid trial. So the case went to court.

Recently, in the Court of Barcelona, ​​the agreement has been accepted. Before the first session started, Shakira accepted the deal. It will pay 7.5 million euros.

"While I was determined to defend my innocence in a trial that my attorneys were confident would have ruled in my favor, I have made the decision to ultimately resolve this matter in the best interests of my children, who they don't want to see mom sacrifice her personal well-being in this fight," Shakira said.
