Video/ The gesture that saves abused women

The domestic violence help signal is simply a hand gesture.

The hand is made into a fist and the thumb is inserted between the others.

This gesture can be used to alert others when one feels threatened and in need.

When did it start being used?

During the Covid-19 pandemic when many victims stayed longer at home with their abusers.

Signal for Help was first introduced in Canada by the Canadian Women's Foundation.

Since that day it has been appreciated, used and featured in several awareness videos.

The signal has been recognized by over 40 organizations across Canada and the United States.

What is needed is everyone's attention to detail. Lives can be saved!
