The former tennis champion is sentenced to a year and a half in prison

Grand tennis player Boris Becker was sentenced by a London court to two and a half years in prison for illegally transferring large sums of money and concealing assets after declaring bankruptcy.

The 54-year-old German was revealed to have transferred hundreds of thousands of pounds after his bankruptcy in June 2017 from his business account to other accounts, including those of his ex-wife Barbara and estranged wife Sharlely "Lilly" Becker.

The three-time Wimbledon champion was convicted earlier this month of four counts under the Bankruptcy Act and faced a maximum of seven years in prison.

Judge Deborah Taylor announced the sentence was minimized after hearing arguments from prosecutor and Becker's lawyer.
