Poland refuses to play against Russia even though it risks qualifying for the World Cup
Poland will not play its qualifying play-off match for the World Cup against Russia due to the country's recent invasion of Ukraine.
The two sides will face off in Russia on March 24, while the winner will meet Sweden or the Czech Republic.
But due to Russian aggression in Ukraine, Poland is refusing to participate in the match.
The head of the Polish Football Federation, Cezary Kulesza, wrote on Twitter: "There are no more words, time to act! Due to the escalation of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the Polish national team does not intend to play the play-off match Poland and Russia. This is the only right decision. "We are in talks with the [Swedish] federations and [the Czech Republic] to present a common position in FIFA."
