Stephanie Frappart makes World Cup history as the first female referee in men's matches
French referee Stephanie Frappart will become the first woman to take charge of a men's World Cup match when Germany take on Costa Rica.
FIFA also selected two women as Frappart assistants - Neuza Back and Karen Diaz Medina - to complete an all-female refereeing team on the field.
FIFA made the historic appointments for 44 of the 64 matches to be played in Qatar.
The 38-year-old Frenchman officiated men's matches in World Cup and Champions League qualifiers, as well as this year's men's Coupe de France final. She also took charge of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Final.
