UEFA excludes Russia from the League of Nations, Albania more chances to qualify
UEFA has officially decided to exclude its strongest opponent in the group, Russia, from all activities at the level of clubs and national teams for next year, starting exactly from the participation in the League of Nations.
At today's meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, it was decided to take this measure to ensure that the planning and development of next season takes place in normal conditions, without always having doubts that Russia will or will not be sanctioned for due to the war in Ukraine.
"Russia will not participate in Group 2 of League B and will automatically be ranked fourth in this group. As a result, they will fall at the end of the group stage and will be ranked 16th, last, in League B ", it is written in the part of the decision that concerns the participation in the League of Nations 2022.
This news is good for Albania, as it gives it a real chance to win the group, where now only Iceland and Israel have opponents, while guaranteeing that it will not fall from this League at the end of the edition, being at least one more. next season in League B with stronger opponents and more financial income.
