"It is a fantastic opportunity to show how open-minded Tirana is. Despite the challenges we have, in this city we have learned to coexist with each other. It is one of the greatest values ??we have, that despite being a country that has gone through great challenges both with communism and in transition, we have learned to tolerate each other because we believe that our coexistence is more important than the religion of someone, someone's party, or someone's vote, ”said Veliaj.

In the volleyball match with the American youth and volunteers of the Peace Federation, in the framework of the sports week in Tirana, Veliaj said that the municipality has shown its attention to sports through investments in new sports fields.

"Sports, whether football, volleyball or basketball, are a means of connecting people. We want to continue the same investment, as we have made here the field of basketball, volleyball, football, and for other federations. I strongly believe that sport is probably the best diplomacy, it is a way that unites people. Therefore, I very much hope that all this week that we have dedicated to sports, these new terrains and friendship between peoples, will be a good investment, "said the Mayor.

Veliaj said that football in Tirana has been one of the challenges for which he is proud to have won.

"There are many people who ask me why I get involved in some battles, that maybe someone thinks that they are not for the mayor, but for sports. But I have no regrets that we fought a battle for football, at least for Tirana, because for Kukës there is another mayor, for Vlora someone else, for Saranda, for Shkodra another, but at least for Tirana we said: "In Tirana there is" fair play ”, in Tirana whoever invests in fields, like this fantastic field here at the Lake, will also ask for an account. "When everyone makes their own battle, then the sum of our battles produces a better city," concluded Veliaj.
