Do you watch a lot of TV? Beware of the risk of dementia!

According to a study conducted in the United Kingdom with 400,000 people, those who watch TV more than 5 hours a day have a 44% increased chance of developing this degenerative disease.

Sitting in front of the TV has other negative effects. People who stay long in front of the TV are more predisposed to suffer a stroke, or to suffer from Parkinson's.

The researchers analyzed the data of 407 thousand people aged 37 to 73 years, which they received from the Biobank in Britain.

40,000 of them had brain scans. None of them had been diagnosed with any brain disorder at the start of the study.

The participants were followed for 13 years and 5,227 of them developed dementia, 6,822 had a stroke and 2,308 were diagnosed with Parkinson's.

Those who watched three hours of television had a 15 percent higher risk of dementia, compared to those who watched one hour or less.
