Americans are flocking to RedNote ahead of a potential TikTok ban

Ahead of a potential TikTok ban, American users are flocking to RedNote.

Known in China as Xiaohongshu ("little red book"), RedNote is the most downloaded free app on the Apple App Store on Monday, January 13 - six days before the TikTok ban in the United States goes into effect.

RedNote features a mix of short videos and uses Pinterest-like elements, offering viewers a mix of video and live streaming features.

The app, founded in 2013, also allows users to share lifestyle content and product reviews.

Newcomers to RedNote call themselves "TikTok refugees" and also refer to the app as "the Chinese version of Instagram."
