Dubai is importing from Greenland to use in bars and restaurants to cool drinks. The company, Arctic Ice, shipped its first container of around 22 tonnes of Greenland ice to Dubai for restaurants to serve in expensive drinks.
"We are looking for the purest ice," said Malik V. Rasmussen, one of the co-founders of Arctic Ice.
Once they spot an iceberg they like, they haul it onto a ship using a crane, cut it into smaller pieces and pack it into insulated crates. A sample of each iceberg is tested in a laboratory to ensure that there are no microorganisms or bacteria.
