Born on the coast of France, Lucie Daouphars moved to Paris and began modeling, quickly becoming a favorite at the House of Dior.

"Mr. Dior had three models he liked to work with," recalls master perfumer and perfume director for the house Francis Kurkdjian. "But Lucie was very special. She got the nickname 'Lucky' because basically every dress she wore for a presentation was a best seller in the collection.' Dior himself once said of his muse: 'Lucky (Lucie) is breathing fashion itself'.

So when Dior launched its luxury Privée perfume collection in 2018, it made sense that one would be called Lucky Eau de Parfum. (It should be noted that this is not the first fragrance Dior created in homage to one of Christian's muses. He also made a perfume for his sister.

'Lucky' bears the nickname of his favorite muse, but also the scent of his favorite flower, the lily. So it has a double meaning.

After leaving modelling, Lucky went on to do great things. She created the first union in France for models and Kurkdjian describes her as a 'cool girl'. 'Lucky had a special way of wearing things,' he says.

She passed away in 1963, when she was 41 years old.
