Striving for the 'perfect selfie' damages the psyche of young people
More and more, young people are starting to spend their free time with their smartphone in hand. They also spend more time on social networks, sharing their images and videos, often carefully manipulated and edited before publication, facilitated by the wide range of "filters" available.
Striving for a "perfect" selfie can have negative consequences for the psyche of young people. Overusing filters and editing images to fit unrealistic standards of beauty can fuel insecurity and dissatisfaction with how you look. This constant comparison to an idealized image can lead to self-esteem problems, anxiety and, in some cases, body perception disorders. Furthermore, the obsession with social likes and approval can increase psychological pressure, contributing to a cycle of emotional addiction to social media.
