Elon Musk clashes with Israel over Starlink deployment in Gaza

Elon Musk has been embroiled in a row with Israel after he said he would allow his Starlink satellite network to support communications in Gaza.

Musk's post on Saturday on X drew an angry response from Shlomo Karhi, Israel's communications minister, who threatened to cut ties with SpaceX over the matter.

In response, Musk said that SpaceX is not "naive" about the situation in Gaza, where Hamas is based. He also sought to assure the Israeli government that access to Starlink would only be granted to official humanitarian groups.

Mobile and internet connections were cut in the territory on Friday, leaving much of its population cut off from the world - and creating an information vacuum during the heaviest aerial bombardment of Gaza since the war began three weeks ago.
