This app you can have on your phone has stolen your WhatsApp and Facebook

This article only applies to Android users!

According to cyber researchers at Cyfirma, a special type of virus that steals private messages has attacked the Google Play Store.

The application successfully tricks its users and allows the extraction of the necessary information, before the victim realizes that it is being stolen.

While the app has already been removed from the Play Store, it may still be on your Android phone if you downloaded it previously.

In this case, you will have to manually delete the app, which is ironically called SafeChat, but which is not at all safe.

An Indian hacker group known as 'Bahamut' is believed to have injected the spyware app which steals texts, call logs and GPS locations from phones.

Tech experts at Cyfirma have not revealed how the hackers tricked people into downloading the SafeChat app. They suspect that the Bahamut group has been working on behalf of a particular state government in India.
