The cinema of Lapraka returns after 30 years

The "Max Velo" cinema in Tirana will open its doors to the public on May 13, after a long period of inactivity. Designed in Laprakë in the 70s by the architect himself, this space will now be dedicated to cinema and art.

This Monday, the "Max Velo" Cinema will start its function welcoming the organization of the Albanian Video Archive Festival in a cycle of 5 days. The director of the Creative Industries Agency, Jonid Jorgji, reveals some details about this renovated space: "The cinema was left in oblivion for a long time, losing its function and becoming a building without an identity that did not even represent the architect , nor the city. Today we are happy that with the initiative of the Municipality of Tirana and the Creative Industry Agency, the cinema is coming back to life after almost 30 years." Jorgji also emphasizes that with the opening of the doors to the public on Monday, various activities are expected: "There will be a program of films every day of the week, bringing a different spirit to the Laprak area. There will also be cultural activities that we are dealing with step by step at the organizational level."
