Albania's "flamingo revolution" has gained its most prominent supporter yet: pop star Dua Lipa. The Kosovo-Albanian singer has expressed her admiration for the protest movement against a Trump-backed resort project in the Balkan country, The Guardian writes.
As protests against the 1.6 billion euro real estate project enter their sixth week, the Albanian singer, who grew up partly in Pristina, has called the protests "inspiring."
During a conversation with Albanian academic and writer Lea Ypi on her Service95 Book Club podcast, Dua Lipa said:
“I find it very inspiring to see how much people really care.”
"Her statement has given a new resonance to the protest movement, which has been opposing the tourism and real estate project in Albania for weeks, turning the issue into one of the most discussed topics in the country and abroad," writes The Guardian, echoing Dua's statement.
