Actress Cameron Diaz has said that couples should not feel forced to sleep in the same room every night, suggesting that sharing bedrooms should be seen as something completely normal.
According to her, the fact that partners sleep in separate rooms does not determine the strength of the relationship and, in some cases, can help make the marriage happier and healthier.
During an interview on the "Lipstick on the Rim" podcast, Diaz said that normalizing shared rooms could remove the unnecessary pressure that often accompanies long-term relationships.
She even explained her idea by saying:
"We need to normalize having separate bedrooms. I have my own house, you have yours. In between we have the family home. I go to sleep in my room, you go to yours, and we also have a common room where we meet for our privacy."
However, the actress later clarified that she was speaking hypothetically and that she no longer thinks the same way today. She said that her husband, Benji Madden, is "a wonderful man."
They have been married since 2015.
