Every detail of our body has a specific function, even the seemingly insignificant ones. For example, do you know why we all have a little line under our nose?
Our body is a miracle in itself. Every little part has its own specific shape and function, even when it seems unnecessary or randomly placed. The line under the nose is one of these details.
If we look at our own bodies and those of others, we discover that each one has its own distinctive features, but at its core we are all similar. Colors and shapes make us unique, but some parts we all have, like this line under our nose.
It's not just an aesthetic feature, although it's very attractive to some people. Just think of Angelina Jolie.
Its scientific name is the philtrum, and, according to experts, it appears to be functional at first glance. In fact, it has no special role after birth, but it once did. One doctor says: “We can compare our face to a puzzle. That little line is the piece that holds all the other pieces together.”
The philtrum forms during the second and third months of pregnancy, when the baby is still in the mother's womb. We can say that that line under the nose is the beginning of our face, from which all the features are then formed. For genetic reasons, some never develop this feature or, as they grow older, it may no longer be visible.
