Sara Kelmendi / Albania is awakened by 361 confirmed cases with COVID-19 and 20 victims. Today closes the week where our country should most likely reach its peak, but that does not mean that the danger has passed or is on the way to escape. We all want things back to normal as soon as possible. We are all tired of this situation, of the need to be locked up at home, of experiencing constant anxiety over all the consequences that this disease can bring, both health and economic.
What many of us still don’t realize, or don’t want to admit, is that things can return to normal very slowly, it may still take weeks or months before we get back to our normal lives. The coronavirus continues to operate at full capacity worldwide, with a total of over 1.2 million affected and more than 65,000 dead today. As China enters a new phase of the disease, where it needs to keep control of infected people in various areas, this means two things: that the virus does not go away immediately after reaching its peak, and that even in China, life has not returned. in the previous normality.
Albania has just started the peak phase, but from the analysis of this phase in other countries such as Italy or Spain it has been noticed that this phase does not pass quickly or easily as the virus can return even after it has passed the peak. However, the fact that this pandemic it can last longer than we expected or would like, it should not scare us, but inspire us to show more care and more patience.
To defeat coronavirus we must continue to radically change all our daily behaviors: how we work, how we exercise, how we spend time with society, how we take care of our health, the education of our children, and how we take care of other members of family. The measures taken immediately in Albania have worked to help keep the number of people affected by the virus under control, but that does not mean that now is the time to start breaking the much-needed rules of social distancing. , as this could ruin the whole sacrifice so far.
According to The Guardian: It's not just the fact that the situation is major and the change happened at breakneck speed and under duress. We are used to hearing that in democracy such big changes do not happen so quickly, but here they are. If we go back in time we discover that major crises and catastrophes have always paved the way for great changes, sometimes great improvements. The global flu epidemic of 1918, the so-called Spanish flu, prompted the creation of national health services in many European countries. Economic crises during the Great Depression and World War II spurred the creation of the modern welfare state. For Albania, this means that the economic plan was necessary to develop at this moment, but we must not forget for a moment that the danger has not passed, the enemy continues to be around us. Now is not the time to lower the shield. Thanks to the measures taken immediately, we should feel lucky that the influx of COVID-19 patients in our country is very low, compared to their number in Italy, Spain or the United States. has exceeded the capacities they can afford.
This week showed that the war continues and vigilance must be as present as before, with great care and even more patience, overcoming fear, we will continue to defeat the invisible enemy waiting outside to attack anyone who manage to approach./Lexo.com.al
