Prince George will start school in September, Kensington Palace has officially confirmed.
The 12-year-old, Kate and William's eldest son, is currently in his final year at Lambrook School in Berkshire, where he studies alongside his younger sister and brother.
In a brief statement, Kensington Palace announced: "We can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from September this year."
The decision means George will follow in the same footsteps as his father. Prince William studied at Eton from 1995 to 2000, becoming the first senior member of the royal family to attend the institution.
Eton is considered one of the most prestigious schools in Great Britain and has produced 20 British prime ministers.
For months there had been discussion about whether George would choose Eton or the school where his mother, Kate Middleton, studied.
However, the royal family decided on Eton, a choice that allows the prince to stay close to the family home in Windsor.
According to British media, the school has taken additional security measures and prepared the premises in anticipation of the arrival of the future heir to the British throne.
George has currently attended Lambrook School since 2022, when the family moved from London to Windsor.
Recently, Prince William revealed that his son had started boarding school a few nights a week as part of his preparations for the transition to secondary education.
