Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos told Euronews.com that Albania has given the European Union guarantees that the €1.4 billion project, linked to Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, will meet EU environmental standards.
According to Kos, the Albanian government has assured the European Commission that the controversial project will be in line with European environmental legislation and that it will undergo a full environmental impact assessment before implementation.
"We have received guarantees from the Albanian government that a full environmental impact assessment will be carried out and that European environmental standards will be respected," said the Enlargement Commissioner.
