Meliá Durrës marks a historic moment for Albanian tourism. For the first time on the Adriatic coast, the 5-star resort's beach is awarded the Blue Flag, the international certification that proves the highest standards in quality, safety and sustainable management of coastal destinations.

"I am very pleased to be at Melia Durrës to raise the Blue Flag, it is an international program, the most well-known in the world, to evaluate and certify sustainable coastal tourism. Today Melia joins the large global "Blue Flag" family for the first time and is the first destination in the Adriatic to raise the Blue Flag. Let this be the example to follow to be the standard that must be held high, and to offer a tourism model that is no longer only to attract as many tourists as possible, but also to guarantee quality service", Eni Metaj, national operator "Blue Flag".

This prestigious award positions Meliá Durrës in the global network of more than 5,000 destinations certified with the "Blue Flag", an award reserved only for beaches and resorts that meet the highest international criteria for service and environmental protection.

"We are very happy to be the first in the Adriatic to have the Blue Flag. It is an honor for us to have this flag. We have made a very good investment. The challenge was to make some investments, to offer the right service and to make the beach accessible to everyone. The Blue Flag is the most important recognition you can have as a beach in the whole world and everyone knows this", Juan Tunon, General Manager, Melia Durrës.

With the Blue Flag waving over its coastline, Meliá Durrës crowns a vision built on excellence, long-term investment and the highest level of hospitality. More than a certification, this is proof that Albanian tourism has already established itself as part of the map of premium Mediterranean destinations, where quality is not an objective, but a standard.
