The red carpet trap

The red carpet trap

The tour of the President of the European Commission to the Western Balkans has ended.

Former Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati sees this tour as a more moral than political mission, where the goal was to give encouragement to countries that have remained in the status of "professional candidates" for more than two decades.

Bushati predicts that our drag on the EU will continue and that they are essentially feeding us empty spoons. So much so that even Ursula herself is embarrassed by this fact.

How does Bushati analyze it?

"The President of the European Commission concluded her visit to the Western Balkans, which aimed to boost morale among the group of countries that have paradoxically gained the status of "professional candidates", due to the dragging out of this process for over two decades. The purpose of the visit was more symbolic than substantive. While the President of the Commission avoided the trap of the red carpet, which is commonly used by local leaders to promote propaganda and certify their power, she failed to convey hope to the citizens of the region. Hope comes from the truth and treating the citizens of the region as European citizens", writes Bushati.
