Giorgia Meloni shares Edi Rama's post regarding the migrant agreement: Grazie Edi

Giorgia Meloni shares Edi Rama's post regarding the migrant agreement:

The Italian Prime Minister's reaction came on Tuesday evening, following news published in international media about a possible termination of the Albania-Italy agreement on migrants after 2030. The debate began after an interview by Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha in a foreign media outlet.

After interpreting his statement, Hoxha clarified that the answer had been misunderstood by the media. He pointed out that, during a question in Brussels about the possibility of renewing the protocol after the initial five-year period, he had stated that he was not sure, implying that by then Albania could be part of the European Union and circumstances could have changed.

According to him, the statement was a spontaneous reflection and not a change in the Albanian government's official stance towards the agreement with Italy.

Prime Minister Rama then reacted, reiterating that the protocol between the two countries remains in force and that there is no political uncertainty about its continuation.

"To all journalists from Italy and beyond, who are contacting me about a misinterpreted quote from a media outlet after the interview of the Albanian Foreign Minister: I want to reiterate clearly and once and for all that our protocol with Italy will remain in force for as long as Italy wishes," Rama said.

In support of this stance, Meloni shared Rama's statement on social media, writing briefly: "Grazie Edi."
