The game with two scores

The game with two scores

Ditmir Bushati is apparently talking about Aleksandar Vucic in this note, but he also means Edi Rama. According to Bushati, the Western Balkans need justice, cooperation and development, not tensions and rhetoric used for political consumption.

Bushati's reaction:

Just days after the President of Serbia and the Prime Minister of Albania published a joint article in the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung about accepting a “second-tier” membership in the EU🇪🇺, the Serbian president has returned to his favorite game: warning about false narratives and alleged threats of war from the alliance between Albania, Kosovo and Croatia.

Unfortunately, the old game of two scores, one for European countries and the other for domestic political consumption, has only cemented the status quo in the region. The Western Balkans needs the rule of law, prosperity, cooperation, and not fear-based rhetoric.

While Albanian politics wastes energy with resolutions to declare Iran a state sponsor of terrorism, even though Albania has a proper law that provides for the necessary instruments that can be implemented in such cases, it is imperative that our priorities in the region are not left to inertia.
