Rama responds to Reporters Without Borders: You should read the reports of those who actually do it

Prime Minister Edi Rama, through a post on "X", responded to the reaction of Reporters Without Borders, RSF, regarding a report they made on media freedom in Albania.
According to him, compared to other professionally conducted reports, the RSF report contradicts assessments of the relationship between the government, the media, and the public.
“I never said that you measure government communication, but now that you mention it, I'm thinking: isn't it perhaps a good idea to read the reports of those who actually do it, and do so professionally and objectively?
It may help you, because significant contradictions emerge between your assessments and theirs when it comes to the relationship between the government, the media and the public in a free country like Albania, where, contrary to what you once claimed, and more than once, the Media Information Agency seems to have been a very good idea in the service of freedom of information. That's all," Rama writes in X.
Reporters Without Borders' response: Prime Minister Edi Rama, we measure media freedom, not government communication. Albania's ranking of 83rd (-3) in the 2026 Index reflects political attacks, abuse of law enforcement, low media transparency, and threats to journalists.
