Rama: Ministries and ministers will no longer have any connection with tenders

Prime Minister Edi Rama and the negotiator for Chapter 5 "Public Procurement", Reida Kashta, presented Albania's progress in this area during a press conference.

According to Rama, the centralized purchasing operator is taking on an important role, while emphasizing that ministries and ministers will no longer be involved in tender processes.

"In the savings that the agency director brought to attention, the centralized purchasing operator has a role. The operator has given us the opportunity to make a big leap so that we no longer hold tenders in the ministry, so the ministries and ministers are no longer related to tenders and a large part of the tenders are also moved from the main agencies, but to the local government according to their choice. It is a government that has its own autonomy. We cannot impose how it conducts tenders, but it has started a dialogue process with the operator and thus create a super-specialized structure to carry out processes that are much more complicated than they seem," said Rama.
