Rama: We will not vote for the arrest of MPs without strong arguments

At the meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Prime Minister Edi Rama, speaking about SPAK's request for authorization to arrest former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, emphasized that parliament cannot become a co-author in the creation of a detained people, demanding that every process be supported by clear evidence.
"Here the prosecutor is asking and the judge is running. In our name, no. With our vote, no. Next time when he comes to the Assembly, not immunity, there is no immunity in Albania against investigation, against wiretapping, against criminal proceedings for any of us who are here. We raise our hand to send a deputy to prison with these arguments, what are we, co-authors in creating the people of pre-trial detention in Albania. When they come next time, they should come armed with evidence, as they came in the 2 previous cases. You come to the Assembly with a ridiculous report and recording with a woman and two women? By putting us in an absurd position that we have given our soul to the battle for justice reform, we have also put the skin of independent justice at their disposal. Do what you have to do. The dignity of the Parliament has not been put up for sale in the marketplace of living things," said Rama.
Rama also thanked former Deputy Prime Minister Balluku.
"Today I thank Belinda for the 6 years that we collaborated and I wish her luck, whoever she is. In the battle that will be, she will only have her lawyers by her side. I apologize for rejecting the 3 requests for resignation. I rejected them only because justice, the independent judicial power was trampled on the territory and in the territory of the independence of the independent executive and legislative power, without or with intent, we will learn this and be sure that if I learn it, I will tell you. The power here stems from the people's vote and this for me was and will be intolerable as long as I am in this position", said Rama.
